Terragena Wins Wine of the Year
Ukiah, CA—Terragena Wine took home multiple awards, including Wine of the Year, at the USA Wine Rating competition, which took place in San Francisco in July 2024.
Notably, the 2021 Carneros Pinot Noir was awarded Grand Wine of the Year, Best in Show by Country, Best in Show by Varietal, and Red Wine of the Year. It is one of the first of the Terragena Appellation Series, where quality grapes are consciously crafted to highlight the natural attributes of the grapes as expressed in a particular geography.
A guiding principle of the USA Wine Ratings is that all the wines that receive medals in the competition should be the wines that consumers actually want to buy. The judging panel consisted of wine industry experts with extensive commercial buying expertise. The wines were evaluated across three different criteria (Quality, Value and Packaging) and assigned scores on a 100-point basis.
"We're honored that the Los Carneros Pinot Noir, out of our Appellation Series, performed so well at the USA Wine Rating," says Chris Buchanan, owner and winemaker. "We clearly set the bar high for ourselves with this newest endeavor where we play with quality grapes and craft wine to highlight the natural attributes of the grape as expressed in a particular geography. Winning Best in Show among other top marks for our various wines submitted shows that we are succeeding at our mission to explore a season in a glass, across a range of accessible price points, working to build a better world with the coolest wine.”
